The program will examine genocide and other atrocities where they took place. Beginning in Rome, students and faculty will visit the Jewish Ghetto where over 1000 Jews were rounded up and deported to Auschwitz in October of 1943. In addition, you will examine global migration, which is often the result of mass atrocities or displacement. You will visit the most current European sites of genocide as well as sites from the Nazi Holocaust. Finally you will visit a place where genocide and other atrocities did not take place – Le Chambon, France – a village where over 5,000 Jews were saved.

Note: This program will require meeting times throughout the semester leading up to the departure of the program. The dates will be determined by faculty and shared before the end of the Fall 2019 semester.
